What this timesheet template covers
Each row is one block of work. Put in the date, the project or client, the task, then the start time, end time and any break. The hours column totals itself in decimals, and the week total updates as you type.
Add as many rows as the week needs. Nothing is fixed to seven days, so the same grid works for a daily log, a full week, or a month. When you are done, download the CSV or print the page. If you only want the maths and not the grid, the timesheet calculator adds up start and end times on their own.
When a template is enough, and when it is not
For one person billing one or two clients, a template is genuinely all you need. It stops being enough at about five people, because nobody can tell who changed a cell and the hours arrive in five different formats. The other limit is proof. A downloaded file has no record of who approved what, so a client questioning an invoice from a year ago is your word against theirs. That is the point where timesheets that route for approval and then lock start to pay for themselves.

- Payroll and invoices are calculated in decimal hours, not hours and minutes. So 7 hours 30 minutes is 7.5, and you can multiply it by a rate without any extra math.
- Is my timesheet saved?
