What a mobile time clock does
A mobile time clock lets someone start and stop work from the phone already in their pocket. There is no wall unit and no shared tablet to buy. Because the phone knows where it is, you can also set rules about where a clock-in is allowed, so a punch from the car park two towns over does not quietly become paid time.

What we do not do
Two limits matter most on a phone. There is no offline clock-in, so a punch needs a connection: if your crews work in dead zones, this will frustrate them and you should know that now. And we do not take a photo or a face scan at punch time, so if your reason for buying is proving a specific human pressed the button, we are not that tool. Location rules tell you the punch came from an allowed place, not who was holding the phone.

- Yes. There are apps for both Android and iPhone, and the web app works in any mobile browser if someone does not want to install anything. All three write to the same timecard.
- Does the app track my location all day?
- No. Location is checked at the moment of a clock-in, to decide whether the punch is inside an allowed area. There is no continuous background tracking and no route history.
- What is geofencing on a time clock app?
- A geofence is a boundary around a place. When someone clocks in, the app checks whether they are inside it. In TimeTracker a rule can block the clock-in, and you can preview which people a rule will restrict before it goes live.
- Can a mobile time clock app work without internet?
- Not this one. A clock-in needs a connection, so punches cannot queue up and sync later. If your team regularly works with no signal, pick a tool built around offline punches instead.
- Does it drain the phone battery?
- It should not. The app is not running location in the background all day. It reads the location when someone clocks in or out, and otherwise behaves like any normal app.
- Can people clock in from a browser instead of the app?
- Yes. The web app works on a phone, tablet or computer. If you only want a quick single-user clock with no sign-up at all, try our free online time clock.
- What stops someone clocking in for a coworker?
- Location rules can require the punch to come from an allowed place, and everyone signs in as themselves. There is no photo or face check at punch time, so if buddy punching is your main worry, weigh that carefully.
