Free time clock app for your team

Start clocking in and out on the free plan with no credit card. This page also spells out exactly where the free plan stops, before you invest a week in it.

Free for up to 3 people. No credit card needed.

Plain English

What free usually means

What it is

Most free time clock apps are free in one of three ways. Some cap the number of people. Some give everyone access but hold back the useful parts, like approvals or exports. Some are a trial wearing the word free. It is worth knowing which one you are signing up for, because the cost of finding out later is a team that has to move again.

Who needs this

For anyone testing a time clock without a budget yet, or running a team small enough that a free plan might genuinely be all you need.

Sound familiar?

Signs a free plan is about to run out

  • You are one hire away from the user cap
  • Approvals are behind a paywall, so nobody signs anything off
  • You can see the hours but cannot export them
  • The free plan keeps 30 days of history and you need a year
  • You are being asked for a card to unblock something basic

What you get without paying

Free plan

A working clock, not a demo

The free plan is a real clock: people clock in and out, sessions show a live running total, and the period builds a timecard. It is enough to run an actual pay period and decide with evidence instead of a sales call.

When you outgrow it

One paid plan, one price

There is one paid plan at $15 per user a month, billed monthly or yearly. No tiers to decode, no calling sales for a number, and no feature you can only get by talking to someone. You upgrade when the free plan runs out, not before.

Straight answers

What we do not do

Free should not mean vague, so here is the shape of it. The free plan is capped by how many people can use it, not crippled by holding back approvals or exports. The paid plan is one price, $15 per user a month. And whichever plan you are on, there is no kiosk mode, no offline clock-in, and no face scans or fingerprints, because we do not build those. If a free plan with a wall tablet is what you came for, another tool will serve you better.

FAQ

Free time clock app questions

What people ask before trusting a free plan with their team's hours.

Is there really a free time clock app?
Yes. TimeTracker has a free plan you can start on with no credit card, capped by the number of people who use it. When you outgrow it the paid plan is $15 per user a month, or $12 billed yearly. Current limits are on the pricing page.
How can I track my hours for free right now?
If you just want your own hours and no account, use our free online time clock. It runs in the browser, needs no sign-up, and you can download a CSV. For a team with approvals, sign up for the free plan instead.
Is the free plan a trial that expires?
No. It is a plan, not a countdown. You are not going to lose access to your hours after two weeks. The limit is on how many people can use it, so it stops being enough when your team grows rather than when a clock runs out.
What is the catch with free time clock apps?
Usually one of three things: a user cap, the useful parts held back, or a trial labelled as free. Ours is a user cap. Approvals, exports and location rules are product capabilities rather than bait, which is why we point you at the pricing page for the current numbers.
Can I export my data on the free plan?
Exporting is part of the product, not a paid upsell we invented to trap you. You can take timecards, leave and balances out as CSV. See data ownership for how we think about this.
Do I need a credit card to start?
No. You sign up with an email address and start clocking in. We do not ask for card details to begin, and there is no automatic upgrade at the end of a period.
Is a free time clock app secure enough for real payroll data?
The free plan is the same app with the same protections, not a lesser copy. Approved periods lock against edits and changes are recorded. We do not use cameras or screenshots. See our privacy policy for how data is handled.
What happens when my team outgrows the free plan?
You move to the paid plan at $15 per user a month and nothing gets migrated or rebuilt. The history, timecards and approvals you already have stay exactly where they are.
