The Hours total is in decimal, so a 90 minute block is 1.5. That number tells you how much real focus time the day holds before you fill it.
Answers
Frequently asked questions
Common queries and answers about the time blocking template.
- What is time blocking?
- Time blocking means you split the day into set chunks and give each one a single job. Instead of a long to-do list, you decide when each task happens. That makes it easy to protect deep work and stop the day from filling with small stuff.
- Can I fill this plan in on the page?
- Yes. Type straight into the grid, add as many blocks as you need, and the hours total updates as you go. Download the CSV or print it when your day is planned.
- Why are the hours shown as decimals?
- Decimal hours are easy to add and easy to compare. A 90 minute block is 1.5, not 1 hour 30 minutes, so the total tells you at a glance how many focus hours the day holds.
- How many blocks should I plan?
- Most people do well with a few longer blocks for deep work and a couple of short ones for email and admin. Leave gaps between them for breaks, so the plan still works when a task runs over.
- Is my plan saved?
- No. The grid lives in your browser and clears when you close the tab, so download the CSV before you leave. A free TimeTracker account keeps your plan and records what you actually did.
- How is this different from just tracking time?
- This template is the plan you make before the day starts. Tracking is what happens during the day. TimeTracker does both, so you can set your blocks and then see how close the real day came to the plan.
