Answers
Frequently asked questions
Common queries and answers about the project tracker template.
- Can I fill this project tracker in on the page?
- Yes. Type straight into the grid, add a row for each task, and the hours total updates as you go. Download the CSV or print it when you are done.
- What should I put in the status column?
- Use short words your team already understands, like To do, In progress, Blocked, or Done. Keep them the same across rows so you can sort and scan them fast.
- Why are the hours shown as decimals?
- Client bills and budgets are calculated in decimal hours, not hours and minutes. So 7 hours 30 minutes is 7.5, and you can multiply it by a rate without any extra math.
- Is my project tracker saved?
- No. The grid lives in your browser and clears when you close the tab, so download the CSV before you leave. A free TimeTracker account keeps every project and its hours for you.
- Does this work for a whole team?
- You can list tasks for the whole team here, but the hours are typed in by hand. With TimeTracker, each owner logs time against their own tasks and the project total adds itself up.
- Can I use this to bill a client?
- Yes. The hours spent column totals in decimal, so you can multiply it by your rate to get the amount. TimeTracker turns those same hours into an invoice for you.
Tired of doing this by hand?
